The Convention and Visitors Office of the Riviera Nayarit (OVC) and the Association of Hotels and Motels of Bahía de Banderas (AHMBB), together with the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur), successfully completed the Midwest Caravan 2019 , which toured three cities in three states of the American Union.
That area of the United States, which includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska, has had an atypical winter, with lower temperatures than usual. That has increased the influx of tourists to the region of Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit, as travelers are looking for more pleasant temperatures.
From Tuesday 5th to Thursday 7th, March. The Promotion Caravan visited the cities of Chicago, Illinois; Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and St. Louis, Missouri, where there was contact with more than 140 travel agents and 91 sales agents.
The activities began in Chicago where the Apple Vacations Open House was held, an event held in the call center of Apple Vacations, one of the leading wholesalers in the United States, where the delegation of representatives of the OVC Riviera Nayarit and the Fidetur Puerto Vallarta, as well as hotels of both destinations, had the opportunity to meet with 91 sales agents. Subsequently, a seminar was held for 56 travel agents. On March 6 and 7, the seminar was replicated in the cities of Milwaukee and St. Louis, in which 95 agents were trained.
This activity in the Promotion and Sales areas had the participation of 11 hotels of the Riviera Nayarit, such as Paradise Village, Grand Palladium, W Punta de Mita, Occidental Nuevo Vallarta, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Dreams Villamagna, Villa del Palmar Flamingos, Villa La Estancia, Hard Rock Vallarta, Royal Decameron Complex and Samba Vallarta.
The Midwest region of the United States is one of the areas that provides more tourists to the Riviera Nayarit, especially in the winter season.
According to data provided by the OVC’s Research and Studies area, in 2018 that region contributed 23.23% of the total number of visitors from the United States, with an influx of 98,455.
Illinois is the state of the Midwest that most tourists sent to Riviera Nayarit, with 29,949.
