The municipal president, Arturo Dávalos Peña, said his government works to achieve an equal society

To commemorate the struggle of women to achieve equality and empowerment in society, municipal authorities, led by Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña, recognized the work and effort of ten extraordinary women who have excelled in non-traditional jobs and humanitarian work .

Accompanied by his wife, Candelaria Tovar de Dávalos, president of the DIF System, councilors and public officials, the mayor said that during the week various activities were held to commemorate the International Women’s Day. Celebrating the recognition of the extraordinary women who build a diverse but egalitarian Vallarta.

He indicated that the goal of commemorating this date is to raise awareness of the importance of behaving with respect, since women are born with the same rights, capabilities and should be recognized, without the need to divide or label by gender or color. 


He mentioned that for this year, the United Nations (UN) organization marks this date with the slogan “Let’s think about equality, let’s build it with intelligence and innovate for change”.


”This government has worked hard, helping women in Puerto Vallarta to achieve the desired fruit of equality” said the mayor.


The president of the DIF System, Candelaria Tovar de Dávalos, mentioned that we must instill in children from a young age, “that we have to be equitable and treat each other with respect”.

The first mayor gave recognition to Cristina Rodríguez Salinas, refrigeration technician; Aida Soto Contreras, blacksmith; María Victoria Martínez Crisosto, brick maker; Rocío Álvarez Martínez, contractor, as well as Wendy Roxana Muñoz Pérez, plumbing and gardening.

In the area of humanitarian work, recognition was given to María Alejandra Gómez Tinoco, Martha Cecilia Mercado Aranda and María Guadalupe Estrada Hernández.
