Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, will host the Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship 2019, which will give two teams the opportunity to play in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay, 2019.
The games will take place from May 13 to 19 and the 16 best national beach soccer teams in the region will participate, of which, two will get a place in the world championship.
Yon de Luisa, president of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) said that “bringing a competition to Mexico is very relevant in many aspects.”
“This high-quality sports show promotes the healthy coexistence among Mexican families,” he said.
Philippe Moggio, general secretary of CONCACAF, explained that the Beach Soccer Championship is an opportunity to make beach soccer grow.
“This will be the fourth time that this great destiny has had a first-class tournament”, he said.
The 4 groups will be selected on April 8 in Puerto Vallarta. The two teams with more points of each group will make it through the quarterfinals, of which four will make it for the semifinals. And the winners of the semifinals will compete in the global competition.
The teams that will participate will be Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Bonaire, Costa Rica, El Salvador, United States, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Turks and Caicos Islands, US Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and Trinidad and Tobago.
